Modern Sparta (pronounced Sparti in Modern Greek) is located in Southern part of Greece and has a population of roughly 18 000 according to 2001 sources with 210 meters of elevation it is situated on Laconian plain.

Majority of the population continue to live in the town itself while today Sparta is an agricultural site where it is for famous for its olives, and citrus processing.
However it was back in 1834 that mark the foundation of Modern Sparta which dwells on part of Ancient Sparta. King Otto at the time announced that city shall be built on the soil where Ancient Sparta lied.

Sparta is the capital of the division of Laconia and during the planning of the new city, high inspirations was put to work to create a beautiful city. Throughout Sparta tree-lined boulevards, parks coupled with ancient ruins makes for a remarkable sight to see.
